Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between the different cooling systems?

A: At BodyCooling.net we sell four types of cooling systems. Each cooling system has its own distinct advantages. Below you will find a brief discription of each cooling system along with its advantages and limitations. Don't hesitate to Contact Us with any questions.

Kool Max Cold Pack Cooling

Evaporative Cooling

Our most popular cooling system that works great in all climates. Clean, non-toxic, resuable packs can be frozen and are easily inserted in vests and accesories to provide hours of cooling.

Advantages: Provides maximum cooling, can be used in all climates, offers up to 4 hours of continuous cooling.

Disadvantages: Requires access to a freezer and time to freeze the packs

A great choice for low humidity climates, evaporative cooling works by drawing away heat as it evaporates. Simply soak evaporative inserts in water and they are ready to work.Evaporative Cooling Kit Picture

Advantages: Low cost, light weight, and does not require access to a freezer

Disadvantages: Does not always work well in high humidity climates and has the lowest cooling energy

Phase Change Cold Pack Cooling

Active Cooling Water Circulation

Phase Change offers cold pack cooling without the use of a freezer. Packs freeze at a temperature of 58° F which means they can be recharged in ice water.

Example of Phase Change PacksAdvantages: Packs do not require a freezer to freeze and will work great in all climates

Disadvantages: Total cooling power is less than Kool Max packs and the system is heavier than Kool Max and Evaporative Cooling

Active Cooling is the strongest cooling system we sell at BodyCooling.net. This system circulates cold water through tubes built into specially made vests and wraps. It offers unparalled deep body cooling.

Active Cooling UnitAdvantages: Most effective body cooling system, great for therapy especially in post-op patients.
